(Xinhua) For the first time on record, a lung from a genetically modified pig has been successfully transplanted into a human body, Chinese scientists announced in a study published in Nature.  

"Lungs are complex organs to transplant, but the surgery is a step towards clinical trials," Nature reported Tuesday.  

The recipient, a 39-year-old man in China who was brain dead, received the lung that had undergone six genetic modifications to improve compatibility with humans.

(Xinhua) China launched a new group of remote sensing satellites from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province on Sunday.  

The satellites of the Yaogan-40 03 group were launched at 12:34 a.m. (Beijing Time) aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket, and they entered the preset orbits successfully.  

They will be used to carry out electromagnetic environment detection and related technical tests.
