(China Daily) Autonomous driving company Pony.ai has reported its first-ever quarterly profit and announced plans to more than double its Robotaxi fleet.
According to its latest financial statement, released on Thursday, the company posted net income attributable to shareholders of $23.43 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared with a net loss of $181 million a year earlier.
For the full year, Pony.ai reported revenue of $90.01 million, up 20 percent from $75.03 million in 2024. Its net loss narrowed by 51.1 percent year-on-year to $134 million, down from $274 million the previous year.
The improvement was driven in part by rapid growth in its Robotaxi business. Revenue from the segment surged 129 percent year-on-year to about $16 million, with around $6.7 million generated in the fourth quarter alone. Pony.ai's Robotaxi fleet now exceeds 1,400 vehicles.
Peng Jun, the company's co-founder and CEO, said the fleet is expected to expand to more than 3,000 vehicles by the end of this year, with deployment planned in over 20 cities globally, around half of them in China.
With more than 1 million current users, a figure nearly triple that from a year earlier, the company said its Robotaxi business model is beginning to gain validation.
Its seventh-generation Robotaxis, which were rolled out for commercial operations in November, achieved per-vehicle operating profitability in Guangzhou in the same month.
On March 22, the seventh-generation Robotaxi fleet in Shenzhen also recorded a daily net revenue per vehicle of 394 yuan ($57), a record high, with an average of 25 orders per vehicle that day.
