Small home appliance maker sees expansion of products

(China Daily) Chinese small home appliance manufacturer Joyoung has accelerated steps to expand the portfolio of its kitchen appliance products and bolster technological innovation, as the company aims to grab a bigger slice of the pie in the highly competitive kitchen appliance market.

The company rolled out its first soybean milk machine in 1994, currently its products cover a wide range of categories, such as blenders, rice cookers, air fryers, water purifiers, floor-cleaning machines and hair dryers, said Guo Lang, president of Joyoung.

It has placed great emphasis on the research and development of self-developed technologies, and accumulated 13,181 technical patents over the past 30 years, Guo said.

Joyoung has unveiled its latest household appliance products, including a non-stick rice cooker without Teflon coating, a high-speed blender and a water purification device, to satisfy people's rising demand for high-quality and healthy lifestyles.

According to Beijing-based market consultancy All View Cloud, which specializes in home appliances, sales of China's small home appliance sector reached 54.93 billion yuan ($7.6 billion) in 2023, down 9.6 percent year-on-year. The figure is expected to amount to 56.05 billion yuan this year.
