(China Daily) China has accelerated breakthroughs in artificial intelligence development, having released 1,509 large models to date, ranking first among the 3,755 large models released globally, according to a Xinhua report citing the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2025 on Sunday.  

The number of global AI enterprises has exceeded 35,000, with over 5,100 based in China. In addition, the total number of unicorn enterprises globally has exceeded 271, with 71 located in China, representing 26 percent of the global total, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications.  

China currently hosts over 300 listed AI enterprises, generating approximately 70 percent of the domestic artificial intelligence industry's total revenue.

(Xinhua) Shanghai's latest action plan to build a leading zone for high-level autonomous driving was released on Saturday, during the ongoing World Artificial Intelligence Conference in the city.  

The plan aims to see Level 4 autonomous vehicles make over 6 million passenger trips by 2027, open more than 5,000 kilometers of roads for autonomous driving, and ensure that over 90 percent of the city's new vehicles are equipped with Level 2 and Level 3 autonomous driving functions.

(China Daily) Chinese automakers have shown strong growth in Europe, a region long dominated by German and American brands as the cradle of the global auto industry. Their performance reached a new high in the first half of 2025, even as the overall European market declined.  

Data released by global auto research company JATO Dynamics on Wednesday shows European vehicle sales fell 4.4 percent year-on-year to 1.25 million units in June.

(China Daily) Chinese automakers are transitioning from merely exporting vehicles to establishing a comprehensive presence in global markets, leveraging their advantages in electrification and intelligent connectivity, according to a senior executive at China Unicom.

(Xinhua) China successfully launched the SQX-1 Y10 commercial carrier rocket into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Tuesday.  

The rocket blasted off at 12:11 p.m. (Beijing Time) from the launch site, sending a satellite into its planned orbit.

(China Daily) China Unicom unveiled a big plan to accelerate the company's intelligent computing infrastructure, including exploring a 100,000-GPU cluster deployment and targeting 45 EFLOPS of computing power, by the end of 2025.  

EFLOPS is a unit of the speed of computer systems and is equal to 1 quintillion floating-point operations per second.

(Xinhua) China's Tsinghua University has placed top of the AdultSize category in the RoboCup Humanoid League soccer world championship, in the first time a Chinese team has claimed the top honor.  

RoboCup was founded in 1997 and ranks among the world's most prestigious robotics competitions. This year's event was held in Brazil, attracting over 20 teams from 12 countries, including China, the United States, Germany, the Republic of Korea and France.

Robots and other cutting-edge products took the spotlight at the opening day of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2025 in Shanghai on Saturday. More than 80 new products are making their global or Chinese debuts at the event.  

With more than 1,570 guests from 73 countries and regions taking part in the 2025 conference, the exhibition area now stretches over a record 70,000 square meters.

(China Daily) The Megacity Intelligent Energy Management Master project was one of the top-prize winners at the 2025 World AI Conference & High-level Meeting on Global AI Governance (WAIC) in Shanghai on Saturday.  

The management system, operated by State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Co and powered by the AI+Guangming Large Model, stood out from among 223 projects.
